As we plan the final stages of our 84th Annual Spaghetti Dinner, remember the history of our church with Fr. Joseph Klein directing the newly formed Choir to sponsor the 1st Spaghetti Dinner in 1936. In previous years, our Festival was the big event and highlight of the West Side. The dinner was held in our first church building at 1946 Queen City Ave. with many of the parishioners making the meatballs, sauce and pasta in their own kitchens and ferrying the food to the church for the big event. By 1939, San Antonio Church was relocated to a temporary building at 1928 Queen City Avenue and the dinners were held there. It was during that year plans were being made to establish a forever church with all that would be needed to host successful annual fundraising events to help sustain the expenses of operating our church. Our new building was completed and dedicated on December 1, 1940. It had everything needed for the parish families to celebrate the Sacraments, hold monthly meeting, and other events in our new church hall. This year we celebrate our 80th year (1940-2020) of hosting the dinner in our current church hall; the place many of our grandparents and devoted family members cooked and served all those delicious dinners.
This year we have gotten the go ahead to have the dinner and serve all our many guests who look forward to this yearly event. We will have Dine In and also Drive Thru on Sunday October 11th from 11:30 AM-7:00 PM. This year when you purchase a ticket, reservations will be required for Dine In and when ordering multiple orders for Drive Thru (take out). The tickets for the dinner are $10.00 for ADULTS and $5.00 for CHILDREN 12 and under. Please contact Dave Sabatelli (513-405-6444) to schedule a time for Drive Thru orders anytime from 11:30 AM-6:00 PM. Dine In will be by reservations only by calling Victor Minella at( 513-520-5594) for the 4 limited seating’s from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM, 1:30 PM-3:00 PM, 3:30 PM-5:00 PM, and 5:30 PM-7:00 PM. Desserts will be offered for Dine In and Carry Out, so please see CONNIE DALESSANDRO to volunteer on a sign-up sheet to bake one of your special desserts that will be served on that Sunday.
